Parents

[hurriedly and excitingly enters the room with a pile of papers & a USB drive in his hands]

Q. Rius, I'm normally not one to ask questions about you, but why the heck are you running around like a giddy girl? You're not trying to be like Pa Sivv are you?

What?

Oh my! Are you holding the script and power point slides of the presentation yesterday???

Yeah! Jen Amos made copies of her presentation and left one of the copies at yesterday's AB Samahan meeting!

The cultural presentation about parents must be the most heartfelt presentation yet!

Well what are we waiting for? Let's watch!

[ Everyone is silent. ]

Wow... ... Hayta, are you crying?

...to think that my parents sacrificed everything for me... They sacrificed everything just for my selfishness. I'm such a horrible person. I'm not making their life any easier... I've grown up to be everything they didn't want me to be. I took away the success that they sacrificed for me. I can't imagine leaving everything I know behind to raise someone like me. How selfish am I!
No! Don't say that! Remember what Jen said, "Our parents opened the door of opportunity half way for us by coming to America. Now it's up to us to open that door all the way!"

Yeah I mean... I think... the fact that we've learned this about our parents... gives us more reason to really believe in ourselves and define success our own way. They may not see it now, but I know if we work hard in what we really want to do, success will come our way. Eventually our parents will see that and they will be happy. Persevere, Hayta!
Yeah... you're right... I hope I am doing the right thing... I've fought so hard against my parents to do what I want to do... I have to succeed...

Believing in yourself is the first thing to do. Be confident in yourself and they will see that... It just takes time...

One thing's for sure... I now see my parents as one of my biggest heroes... Even for all the arguments and struggles we went through... I truly do love them...

Love yo mama!

Haha, I hate you, Pa Sivv... But ...you're right. I should show her more of my appreciation...

Haha, that sounds like an adventure. Imagine, the adventures of Hayta showing appreciation to her parents! I gotta see this!

How exciting! I must see as well!

Gosh, you guys are annoying. I'm leaving now.

HAPPYSLIP time! This makes me want to watch Happyslip's adventures in the Philippines again!

Thank you everyone for reading!
